Session

Best Practices in Sustainable Transportation on Canadian Campuses

April 28, 2024 15:30 - 16:30 Macleod 1&2View map

In this collaborative session, learn about sustainable transportation initiatives at both a campus wide and Canada wide scale as we hear from Thompson Rivers University as well as results from a recently completed National study.

In the first half of this session, learn more about Canada‘s first ‘STARS double Platinum’ university Thompson Rivers University (TRU). TRU takes sustainability very seriously and will share some of the active and alternative transportation initiatives on the campus (especially bike-related) that work well, and some that didn’t work so well. Please share success stories from your campus during this session!

In the second half of this session, results from the first nationwide study of sustainable transportation initiatives at Canadian campuses will be shared by the staff at Urban Systems who undertook the study. Each initiative will be considered through the lens of time commitment, financial commitment, and staff commitment, and will provide not only real-world examples of proven effective initiatives, but also informed recommendations on what actions might work best at your own campus.
