Jason Taylor

Department Head, Selkirk Technology Access Centre

After graduating from the BCIT with a diploma in Structural/Architectural Detailing and a diploma in Computer Animation from Vancouver Film School, Jason worked in Vancouver at a 3d modeler for TV, film and commercial advertising.

Jason started with Selkirk College in August of 1998 to support the development of and instruct in the Multimedia Production and Design program which is now called Digital Arts. In 2002, the program moved to Nelson as part of the School of the Arts where Jason assumed the role of Chair.

In 2014, Jason developed the Advanced Manufacturing division of Selkirk College’s Applied Research and Innovation department – Selkirk Innovates. In 2019, the Advanced Manufacturing applied research division was awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Build IE research grant for Advanced Manufacturing. Then in 2020, the division was awarded a Technology Access Centre grant from NSERC where Jason is currently working as Department Head. The Selkirk Technology Access Centre (STAC) a 13,000-sq-ft research lab housing over $3 million worth of advanced manufacturing equipment.
