Ann Cada-Hamelin is a fluent speaker of Anishinabemowin (Ojibwe language) and retired in 2019 from a 27-year career working in Indigenous education. In 2023, she was appointed as the Kenjgewin Teg board representative from the Sheshegwaning First Nation (and is also elected as Deputy Chief).
