Advancing the Indigenous Research and Innovation Agenda

October 29, 2024 10:15 - 11:15 C3/C4 (SI)

The majority of academic research activity with the Indigenous community has taken place in the humanities, health, environment, legal, and social sciences space. The Indigenous business community has had little to no engagement in Canada’s research and innovation agenda and low engagement with post-secondary institutions and business school community. The colleges and Indigenous controlled institutions are well positioned to co-create new innovation and engagement strategies. This panel will feature representatives from Luminary and Ulnooweg who will provide insights on a range of issues including:

  • How can we address the innovation gap, and co-create an Indigenous innovation engagement roadmap together with colleges and institutes;
  • How can we grow more Indigenous business student and research talent with Indigenous informed curriculum and pedagogy to reflect the Indigenous economy?
  • What kind of Indigenous-led knowledge networks are needed and how can we support Indigenous-led research collaborations?

The session will involve knowledge sharing, a panel, and audience discussion.
