Developing Climate Change Action and Sustainability Plans: Your Roadmap to Net Zero

April 28, 2024 10:30 - 11:30 Macleod 4&3View map

Nova Scotia Community College has taken a strategic approach to sustainability, focusing on climate action. To this end, the college has developed a comprehensive ‘Climate Change Action Plan’ that addresses the three main pillars of climate action – mitigation, resiliency, and education. This plan aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 while ensuring the campus infrastructure is resilient to climate risks. In addition, the plan includes support for vulnerable communities affected by climate-related disasters.

To complement the ‘Climate Change Action Plan,’ the college has also developed a Sustainability Plan that encompasses social, economic, and environmental sustainability throughout our institution and outlines how we will incorporate a holistic view of sustainability across all departments.

Additionally, the plan details our approach to tracking and monitoring progress toward our sustainability goals. This workshop will provide insights on developing similar plans at your institution as a starting point for your journey toward net zero.
