A Northern Ontario Experience to Find Net Zero
Confederation College’s pathway to net zero began over a decade ago and has recently evolved to meet a net zero target by 2040. By sharing past experiences and technology adoptions from a campus located in northwestern Ontario, we will share successes, provide insights on things to avoid, and dive into our most recent projects supported through a $1.3 million Smart Renewable Electrification Pathways (SREP) project, funded by Natural Resources Canada. Explore how SREP funding supported the completion of a Sustainability Roadmap Study, developed a living lab of campus energy systems, developed Green Energy Micro Credentials to support industry and communities in navigating net zero, and hosted “Pathways to Net Zero”, a facility focused summit targeted at the Thunder Bay community to initiate discussions about how to achieve net zero. Throughout this panel, insights into how to achieve success, how to remain resilient during challenges, and how to integrate SDGs into strategic planning will be shared.
